About Briana Kay
My filmmaking journey started 17 years ago when I bought my first SLR camera. Over time, my love of photojournalism led to documentary filmmaking. My style often incorporates strong still images that can tell a story with a single frame.
In 2015, I graduated from Southern Illinois University summa cum laude with a B.A. in Mass Communication, majoring in cinema photography and minoring in journalism. Throughout college, I worked for a southern Illinois CNN/ABC news affiliate, WSIL News Channel 3, as an Associate Producer and Video Editor. My experience in editing for the news taught me how to adapt to software and workflows quickly while editing captivating video stories efficiently.
In 2016 I moved New York to continue my career in filmmaking. Since then, I’m honored to have worked as a Post Production Assistant with Oscar Nominated Film Editor Susan E. Morse and award-winning Editor Brian A. Kates on narrative feature films and TV-Pilots.
When I'm not working and learning from film editing legends, I enjoy working as an independent filmmaker and freelance video editor. I offer a wide range of services including video editing, audio mixing, archiving, scanning, and photography. Contact me for more information and pricing.
